From weddings to wakes to fancy balls, Joseph Baschnagel has been bagpiping all over Western New York for over 40 years. He is one of Western New York's most notable bagpipers. He is the pipe major of the Celtic Spirit Pipe Band and has recorded five bagpipe albums and a live DVD. Joe has played for such dignitaries as the Bishop of Buffalo, New York State Senators, US President Ford and members of the British Consulate. He has played infront of thousands of people during the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits games. Joe has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at Kleinhans Music Hall and at Shea's Performance Arts Center with the Piano Guys. He has starrred as the piper for the musical Brigadoon at the Lancaster Opera House. He has even opened for Rod Stewart when he came to Buffalo. Joe also plays for many charity events including Ride for Roswell and Unyts Donate Life. He and his band march in many parades and performs annually at the Amherst Scottish Festival, the Niagara Celtic Festival, and the Allegeny County Celtic Festival. In his spare time he is compiling a book of music and histroy of bagpiping in Western New York.
